WHY WE’RE HERE

Young people are looking out for the planet. But who’s
looking out for us?

  • We demanded governments declare a climate emergency. We succeeded.
  • We pushed for a European Green New Deal. We succeeded.
  • We called for divestment from fossil fuels in schools and universities. We succeeded.

But change is not happening quick enough.

Join our mission to activate change

Millions of young changemakers have taken to the streets to demand better. And while we’ve achieved so much, it’s come at the cost of our mental health.

There’s still so much that needs to change. And honestly? We’re tired.

The Resilience Project exists to help young people navigate climate anxiety and burnout, so they can keep showing up for the planet without sacrificing their wellbeing.

We also partner with B Corps, NGOs, and public institutions that want to do right by the planet and its people—working to rebuild trust and repair the broken bonds between generations.

Because the only way we’ll achieve climate justice is if we do it together.

Our Founder

Katie Hodgetts founded The Resilience Project at the age of 24 after experiencing burnout as a young climate activist.

As a co-founder of Bristol Youth Strike 4 Climate and former Coordinator for the UK Youth Climate Coalition, Katie helped bring together more than 80,000 young people to take climate action. It was then that Katie saw how many young activists were struggling with their mental health and the lack of support available.

So, inspired to do things differently, Katie set out to build the kind of community where young changemakers could feel supported, understood, and equipped to keep going.

Since founding The Resilience Project, Katie has gone on to publish her first book ‘Act, Rest, Reset, Repeat’ and spoken on international stages about climate, mental health, and inner development. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of IKEA’s Young Global Leaders Board, and was named The Conduit’s Young Climate Innovator of 2023.

Our story so far

2020 – Where it all began

Bristol, UK

The Resilience Project is born! We piloted our very first 8-week Resilience Circle—co-designed by youth activists, psychologists, and resilience practitioners. A small, powerful step that would spark a growing global movement.

2021 – Training up and reaching out

Across the UK

We kicked off our train-the-trainer model with the first-ever Resilience Residential, training 14 young changemakers to co-host their own Resilience Circles.

Six Circles were launched, spreading across the UK and reaching into climate justice movements—including Fridays for Future Scotland ahead of COP26 in Glasgow.

2022 – Inclusive spaces

UK & Global

Our second Resilience Residential brought together 14 more youth leaders, who rolled out Circles across new communities—this time with themed spaces for People of Colour, Queer+ youth, marginalised activists, and Global South/North COP27 campaigners.

Our Resilience Circles officially went international.

2023 – Bold steps, big wins

Global

We were honoured with the Conduit’s Young Innovator Award and launched our first International Board of Youth.

This year, we:

  • Hosted the first Global Convening of Youth on Eco-Anxiety, uniting young people from 44 countries
  • Established a Resilience Hub in Tanzania and a new regional focal point in East Africa
  • Expanded our workshop offering to multinational clients, including LEGO and Who Gives A Crap

2024 – Scaling with care

Global

A year of growth and global reach. Our core team doubled in size and our work spanned six continents.
We launched our European Resilience Residential with global online Resilience Circles, including a pilot in East Africa.

We began groundbreaking research with Stanford University and Imperial College London, measuring how peer support impacts climate anxiety, burnout risk, and wellbeing.

By the end of the year, we had:

  • Held community interventions across 15 countries
  • Spoken on 11 international stages
  • Reached nearly 20,000 people
  • Connected with over 800 young changemakers through Resilience Circles and events
