This September, we’re launching a free online book club for young people in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

Meeting at 8pm every second Tuesday from the 15th September, we’ll explore how to build resilience through rest, community, connection and celebration through a shared love of reading

This is more than a book club — it’s a route to remembering that while burnout is real, so is community. With more young people experiencing rising hopelessness in the face of so many global crises, this book club exists to foster joy, cultivates connection and remind us that even when it feels difficult, change is possible.

What We’re Reading

We’ll be reading Act, Rest, Reset, Repeat by Katie Hodgetts, founder of The Resilience Project.

This is a book for young people who want to be responsible world citizens without sacrificing themselves in the process: activism meets self-care.

Who’s This Book Club For?

If you’re a young person feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, this is your space to connect with others who feel the same, finding strength and courage through pages and each other.

This edition of The Hopeful Book Club is open to participants aged 18-28, living in East Africa.
